The notarial archive is public. The notary is its custodian and is also responsible for managing it.
The entire body of records in her care has been catalogued, digitised and indexed electronically.
The notary is custodian of the following archives:
- 7th Notarial Practice of Lisbon
- 17th Notarial Practice of Lisbon
- The archive of the notary Pedro Alexandre Barreiros Nunes Rodrigues
The notary had charge of the former 7th Notarial Practice of Lisbon until 14/02/2005, then located at Rua da Madalena, no. 273, 1st floor, Lisbon, and before that at Largo da Madalena. She remains the holder of the licence of the 7th Notarial Practice of Lisbon even after the liberalisation of the profession, having moved on 15/02/2005 to Avenida da Liberdade, no. 9, 6th floor left, Lisbon, and to the present premises on 19/09/2023.
The whole archive for the period from 15/02/2005 to the present day is in her keeping.
Part of the records of the former 7th and 17th Notarial Practices of Lisbon has already been transferred to the Torre do Tombo national archive.
Archive still held by the notary
Certified copies may be requested of documents held in the practice’s archive. They carry the weight of the original and may be sent by post on prior bank transfer, collected in person at the practice, or sent by email with an access code, as the client prefers.

Archive transferred to the Torre do Tombo
Certified copies may be requested of documents transferred to the Torre do Tombo. They carry the weight of the original and may be sent by post on prior bank transfer, or collected in person, as preferred.
Searches and copies of those documents may be requested through the practice or directly from the Torre do Tombo.
Certified copies of the will of a living person, and of acts related to that will, may only be collected in person by the testator at the Torre do Tombo, on production of identification.
